Upcycling Workshops for Children

Summer 2021 we ran upcycling workshops for children. The children brought items from home to upcycle. They made a mug bug hotel from old mugs and cups, watering cans and water butts from plastic milk containers, grass heads using old tights and jam jars, a mini herb garden and mini window box from cardboard milk and juice cartons.

Where does your Daffodil Grow Competition

Spring 2021 we ran a competition called ‘Where does your daffodil grow?’ in conjunction with the local primary school. We gave every child in the school a bulb to grow in a container that they were saving from the bin or something they could upcycle. This competition is running again for 2023.

Music in the Park

Summer of 2021 musicians from the local area gathered several times in the village for free outdoor Irish music on Sunday afternoons.

We have families who will travel to Foulksmills on their holidays when the Duck Race is on. We also have visitors who are just in the area on holidays and see the advertising signs around the roads and comment in what a great event for a Wednesday evening. People have very fond memories of the Duck Race and that’s what brings them back year after year. Attractions include: Milk Daisy the Cow, River Boat Rides, Fishing for Bottles, River Balls, Win a Cake, Bouncing Castle, Hook a Duck, Horse Racing, Duck Bowles, Giant Soccer Darts, Chuck-a-Duck, Knock your Block Off, Vantastic Gaming Van and lots more. The main attraction of course is the Duck Racing with the feature race on the night – The Sweepstakes Race. The prizes for each race are restaurant vouchers for restaurants in the area. The races have full commentary from the banks of the river Corach. The final the night is the human river race. You might want to bring some spare clothes! There are plenty of activities to keep everyone entertained for an evening of fun and cráic on the Banks of the River Corach.
